The Position: Environment and Climate Change Canada is looking for students to join the Corporate Services and Finance Branch – Reusable Applications Division as a Web Applications Developer. This co-op position will allow you to use your technical knowledge, effective communication and problem-solving skills and desire to learn to work on projects that have a real-life impact on our environment. The position primarily consists of project-based work developing data driven APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) used by multiple applications within the department. Through this position, you will become an integral part of our team by playing a key role alongside our team members in taking projects through the various stages of the development life cycle. Our office in Toronto is easily accessible by local transit (both York Region and the TTC). A successful candidate will need access to a printer to complete the onboarding forms and may be required to mail documents via the post and/or visit an RCMP office for fingerprinting. |

Essential and Asset Qualifications: Essential Qualifications: Must be enrolled full-time in a Computer Science/Engineering program Experience in basic web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases Knowledge of software design fundamentals and Object-Oriented Principles Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work under tight deadlines Demonstrated team player Able to pass routine security check Asset Qualifications Experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., VueJS, React, Angular, Svelte, etc.) Experience building REST APIs Familiarity with advanced relational database concepts (e.g., indexes, stored procedures, triggers) Knowledge of git version control Experience working in a collaborative setting Canadian citizenship (Preference will be given to Canadian citizens) Current Canadian permanent address (Preference will be given to people living near the job location) Join us at Environment and Climate Change Canada if you are interested in applying your knowledge and skills, learning something new and making a real difference in the world that we live in. |
