To learn more about us, please visit our website at http://www.ec.gc.ca   The Position:   Environment Canada is looking for students to join the Corporate Services Branch – Reusable Applications Division as a Web Applications Developer.  This co-op position will allow you to use your technical knowledge, strong communication and problem solving skills and desire to learn to work on projects that have a real-life impact on our environment. The position primarily consists of project based work developing feature-rich web applications that focus on presenting information using interactive maps. There may also be opportunities to work on data-centric app sites using C# Blazor. Through this position, you will become an integral part of our team by playing a key role alongside our team members in taking projects through the different stages of the development life cycle. The rate may be raised at any time by the Treasury Board for cost-of-living adjustments, but at this time we can only guarantee the stated amount. Please note that employees are paid in arrears.
Job Requirements:	Essential and Asset Qualifications:   Essential Qualifications: Must be enrolled full-time in a Computer Science, Geomatics, or Computer Engineering program Experience in Javascript & web development concepts Knowledge of software design fundamentals and Object-Oriented Principles Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work under tight deadlines Demonstrated team player Able to pass routine security check Able to provide valid citizenship documentation (Birth Certificate / Valid Passport / Citizenship Card / Permanent Resident documentation / Visas)   Asset Qualifications:  Interest or experience and knowledge of incorporating mapping functionality into web based solutions (ESRI’s ArcGIS Server / APIs for Javascript, or Open Source- Map Server) Experience in CSS / Web Interfaces Knowledge of Web Accessibility Standards Experience in C# or Blazor Experience working in a collaborative setting Canadian citizenship (Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents) COVID-19 Notes:   The work location situation is a dynamic one. At this moment we are a flexible “four days in the office per month”. However, this policy can change at any point depending on a number of factors. Be prepared for the possibility that work will resume on-site full time within the work term.   When working remotely, you will be at your home. A laptop will be delivered to you, but you will need to supply a reliable internet connection and your own work area. A successful candidate will need access to a printer to complete the onboarding forms, and may be required to mail documents via the post and/or visit an RCMP office for fingerprinting.   Proof of vaccination will be required (at the time of writing, this is defined as two vaccinations from one of the standard approved brands).
