A little more about us Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is on a mission to make sustainable development a reality in Canada. It's all about preserving and enhancing our natural environment, because it matters to the present and future generations. Get to know us better at ec.gc.ca. We are a dynamic UX Team of five at the Corporate Services and Finance Branch (CSFB) – Reusable Applications Division (RAD) at ECCC (what a word soup!). Notably, most of our team members are former PEY (Professional Experience Year) students. We bring experience, expertise and most importantly enthusiasm to our work. The Position ECCC is looking for students to join the CSFB – RAD as a UX Designer/Developer. Currently, you’ll work from home full time, but might need to switch to a hybrid model work model in the future, which includes both in-office and remote work. Things you will do * Sketch and craft wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes using design software like Figma. Sometimes we even doodle on paper. * Collaborate with the team to brainstorm innovative solutions to complex problems. * Participate in team discussions about projects matters and participate in decisions regarding the ways our team operates, * Provide, and reflect on constructive feedback for continuous improvement. * Dive into user research, interviews, and usability testing sessions. * Present your research findings and design mock-ups to the project team and stakeholders. * Work with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build user interface templates. * Keep meticulous notes on everything! Interview and research notes, testing and brainstorming notes, project insights, lessons learned, design decisions, meeting agendas, onboarding information. * Get creative and engaging with our UX presentations at quarterly meetings. * Celebrate our achievements together as a team. Additional Benefits Our Toronto office is easy to reach via local transit (both York Region and the TTC). Here's why ECCC is a wonderful place to grow: * Flexible work hours: We understand that life happens! * Working from home (Note: you may need to partially work from the office at some point in the future) * Casual dress code: No need to suit up. * Student-friendly atmosphere: You'll fit right in with our co-op student community. * Tech playground: opportunities to work with enterprise technologies and software development. * Potential for a full-time position after graduation via our Student Bridging Program. |
