Job Description:	As a software engineering intern you will have the opportunity to contribute to Moody’s Analytics AXIS actuarial system while gaining valuable hands-on experience in software designing and database management. This role entails supporting actuarial programmers in writing fast and reliable code, adding new features involving C++, improving existing features,  integrating and optimizing database functionality. Primary Responsibilities Collaborate with existing team members to learn about AXIS database architecture, structure, insurance products and operations. Learn and adhere to software development processes, coding standards, version control and job tracking tools. Redesigning legacy code to achieve more maintainable and scalable code. Programming complex data structures and conversions. Interpreting, assessing, and analyzing business requirements from actuaries. Developing and testing new features. Troubleshooting issues for internal clients. Improving system efficiency; profiling and optimizing routines Develop and optimize internal tools to improve performance and accuracy. Maintain documentation using code comments, help files and Knowledge Based articles. Other duties assigned as required
Job Requirements:	Enrolled in an undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering Excellent understanding of algorithm designs Strong hands on knowledge of C++ Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Design and development Strong understanding of database design principles; familiarity with SQL is an asset Experience in MFC is an asset Experienced in Visual Studio, and Microsoft Windows development platform Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills Strong analytical and debugging skills Willing to learn new technologies; capable of self-directed learning Prior experience developing financial applications in the actuarial field is an asset
