Job Description: About Bloom

Bloom AI is a B2B SaaS startup disrupting the Ecommerce photography industry with generative AI. In late 2021, Bloom closed a $1.7M in funding from top-tier Canadian and US venture capital firms.

Bloom’s current product is a mobile-first product photo performance engine that helps eCommerce brands maximize ROI on their product photos. Bloom uses data science to reshuffle the order of photos on every product page and serves each user the order of photos likeliest to lead to a purchase. This raises conversion rates by 8 - 14%. We're also developing a generative product to serve AI content and further lift conversion rate.

From zooms to swipes, it monitors every shopper interaction, running thousands of real-time A/B tests without latency. It takes into account data like device type, time of day, location, user behavior, and more. This is especially useful in mobile commerce (M-commerce), where product photos are a critical part of the buying journey as the photos take up most of the screen on mobile devices.

After closing a successful private beta in late-2021, Bloom is now live on the Shopify App ecosystem with its V1 version ready to scale, and we need your help!

Work term details** (UPDATED)

We are open to full-time 4-month work placements, as well as 8 or 12-month placements part-time or full time. We hire based on the fit of the student for the role, and are happy to be flexible however you need us to be in order to work together.

Job Responsibilities

We’re in search of an ambitious computer science student who’s interested in startups. You should have built impressive projects of your own in the past. We prefer if you have experience in Javascript, React, and Node, or can pick them up quickly on the job. You’ll spend the majority of your time working directly with Bloom’s co-founder Aarlo Stone Fish, a Yale Computer Science grad with 20+ years of experience building software used by thousands of paying customers.

The ideal candidate is someone not only passionate about coding but is interested in startups in general, and could offer support in cross-functional aspects of the business when there are no active tasks in the merchant integration. The ideal candidate understands that as an early-stage startup, there’s always a number of projects and priorities on the go. As a result, the candidate must be self-motivated, ambitious, and comfortable with a work environment with less organizational structure than a more mature business.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Applying Bloom’s code onto the product detail pages of customer stores.
  • Testing to ensure the code is working properly.
  • Anything else required, such as improving our customer dashboard or even working on the AI algorithm that decides which photo to show which user.
The successful candidate will receive 1-on-1 coaching and mentoring with Aarlo, along with visibility into other aspects of the business via dedicated time with Sam, Bloom’s business-focused cofounder and hiring manager of this position.
Job Requirements: Required Skills:
  • Be able to point to impressive software projects you have written on your own - please mention them in your application.
  • Ideally, you are fluent with Javascript and have experience using it for web development (HTML, React, and Node.js experience is a plus but not necessary) - however, if you’re a very quick learner, that is fine too.
  • Ability to work extremely fast and produce high-quality work.
  • Curiosity, drive, and interest in startups.
