Your Role and Responsibilities This position resides in Markham, ON and is a 16 month work term commencing in May 2024. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full time studies upon completion of the work-term. Data is the new currency. The IBM Data Security team works to deliver leading edge products and solutions to help organizations analyze their data environment to make sound decisions to ensure regulatory compliance and improve their data security. The research and development in this area are critical to IBM and represent a huge opportunity for growth in terms of revenue uplift and technology advancement. As a Co-op Software Developer in our Performance Engineering Team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals to help enhance the performance automation framework. This framework tests the performance, scalability, and quality of new features and releases of our data security products. The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for experimenting with new technology and quickly learning about product components. They should be adept at solving problems and developing highly efficient automation and deployment pipelines.
Job Requirements:	Required Technical and Professional Expertise Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated proficiency in coding with programming languages including but not limited to: Python, Go, Java. Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team, with demonstrated communication skills. General knowledge of Performance Analysis for Computer Systems, Databases, Data Structures, and Algorithms. Problem-solving mindset. Must be eligible to work 16 months starting in May Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise Understanding of computer architecture, storage subsystems, and virtualization (e.g., Docker, Linux Containers). Familiarity with performance assessment tools and technologies such as JMeter and perf. Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices and tools, e.g., Jenkins, Travis. Registered in a formal co-op/internship program
