Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Students will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance to the office. ACTIVITIES: Responsibilities of the students may include one or more of the following: Lead modernization programs/project improvements – assist with technical evaluation of innovative technologies that support Toronto Hydro’s plans for evolving into the utility of the future Development of strategic and long-term investment plans, programs & portfolios to manage performance of distribution system “Big Data” projects – distribution system analyses to support deployment of capital investment programs, connection of new customers, assess asset and system performance, assess system reliability, design/construction practices and perform risk assessment and optimization Development and support of maintenance programs to sustain asset performance Evaluation of Distribution Equipment – assist with conducting technical evaluation, prototyping, trialing and selection of equipment used in the distribution system to ensure alignment with technical and legislative requirements Development of Construction Standards – assist with designing, drafting, documenting and publication of Construction Standards Major Initiatives/Projects – assist with implementation of major initiatives relating to roll out of major equipment into the system. Ensuring smooth integration by developing roll out material including installation and operational procedures, engagement and communication material and stakeholder impact analysis Quality Activities – assist in equipment failure data collection, material handling and database population |

| Job Requirements: |
REQUIREMENTS Students must be currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering degree program, and preferably be in the process of completing their 3rd year, consideration willl be given to students in their 2nd year. Consideration will be given to Civil, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer, and Industrial Engineering degree students. TECHNICAL SKILLS INCLUDE: General understanding of engineering principles in the areas of electrical, mechanical, computer, or industrial engineering Effective time and project management Basic knowledge of electrical power systems and equipment would be an asset. Ability to learn new software packages quickly High Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) Resourceful with exceptional problem-solving skills Knowledge of programming languages (VBA, R, C/C++, Python, etc) would be an asset Drafting and CAD (Advanced Level Skills in MicroStation would be a definite asset) |
