Your Role and Responsibilities This position resides in Markham, ON and a 16 month work term commencing in May 2024. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion.  As IBM Semeru runtime developer, you will contribute to the Eclipse OpenJ9 and Eclipse OMR open-source projects that implement cloud optimized Java virtual machine, JIT compiler and garbage collector. You will learn to do Java benchmarking and performance analysis to identify performance improvement opportunities, design and prototype to iteratively implement new features, perform testing, debugging and tuning to achieve optimal solutions.
Job Requirements:	Required Technical and Professional Expertise Strong C/C++ development experience on Linux Strong interest in whole-stack performance analysis and problem determination, quick prototyping, and iterative experimentation Experience with Open-source development tools and projects Strong collaboration and communication skills Must be eligible to work 16 months starting in May Preferred Technical and Professional Experience Good understanding and experience with one or more processor architectures, e.g. x86, ARM64, POWER, and Z Prior experience in performance analysis. Prior experience in Compilers, Runtimes, Operating Systems, or related areas Registered in a formal co-op/internship program
