With AMD, you can get hands-on experience that will give you a competitive edge in the workforce.   Location:  Markham, Ontario   Program Term:  16-month position from May 6, 2024 – Aug 29, 2025   About the department  A critical piece of that shiny new Graphics Card you’ve been gaming on is the actual Graphics!   Knowledge alone is not powerful. It is the application of knowledge that has the power to change the world and make your mark.   The Graphics (GFX) and Compute Diagnostics team pushes the limits of the GPU before it eventually lands in your totally awesome gaming rig or console. We are responsible for developing test suites that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the graphics ASICs developed at AMD for industry-leading 3D gaming and machine learning applications. We are heavily involved in diagnostics development for the latest innovations in next generation graphics ASICs that power the ultimate visual and compute experience. Once developed these diagnostics are used in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through the production life of the product.     What you’ll be doing   The design, development (C++) and verification of diagnostics test suites: ASIC Qualification ASIC and Board production test suites for both internal and external customers Identifying and troubleshooting HW and SW problems Analyzing fall out boards Perform tuning activity on the suites Support of customer issues, including investigation and debugging of diagnostics source code Assist in ASIC bring-up and support activities     What you’ll learn   Knowledge and experience of modern software development in a real engineering environment Advanced C++ programming at the systems level in a Linux environment System-level vision on the entire flow of software development and how to debug complex systems Knowledge about industry-leading Graphics and Machine Learning technologies Project management and communication skills
Job Requirements:	Key Qualifications  Good knowledge and experience in software programming (C/C++, scripting) Familiarity with PC architecture Experience with software development and debugging in Linux Source control systems (svn, git, Perforce, etc.) Self leadership and independence, along with excellent communication skills
