Description
The Fixed Income Trading Analyst-Intern will work directly with the Mortgage Trading team on a daily basis. Bank of America is a market leader in the NHA MBS space, and is also an active participant in the Canada Mortgage Bond (CMB) program. On a daily basis we work with mortgage originators to purchase loans, hedge our exposure, and sell securitized MBS to our Bank/Pension Fund/Insurance Company/Government clients.

As a 14-16 month intern, you will begin your career at Bank of America with extensive on the job desk training. Throughout the program, you will have ample opportunities to work closely with professionals and peers throughout our organization.
 
Internship candidates will interview for the group through an extensive interview process.  Interns will be located in Toronto.
 
Responsibilities
An analyst’s responsibilities include the following:
  • Assisting senior traders/sales professionals in management of mortgage portfolio
  • Aid in daily P&L process
  • Design models and back-testing tools
  • Extensive analysis of historical data and database management 
  • Prepare client presentations and other materials related to structuring and executing securitization transactions
  • Communicate and interact with deal team members across product groups 
Job Requirements: Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong mathematical background and a keen interest in the financial markets
  • Must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, strategic and creative thinking, and distinguished written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of macro economics as well as equity, fixed income, mortgage-related, and derivative products is a significant asset
  • Interns are required to manage several projects at once and work effectively as part of a team
  • Should have a reasonable comfort level programming with Window-based development tools including Visual Basic; familiarity with SQL and database design is a plus
