OB OVERVIEW Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professionals to join our team in the role of Engineering & Applied Science Internship program located in various locations: Bowmanville, Courtice, Ajax, Pickering or Toronto. Please note that our Courtice location is not accessible by public transit. As Ontario’s largest clean energy generator, OPG is committed to providing challenging opportunities in a work environment where safety is a fundamental value. As a Professional Engineering Year Internship student, you will be teamed with a staff engineer to assist in their assigned work program. You will be given the opportunity to contribute to the success of our business by undertaking technically challenging projects or tasks with coaching and mentoring from staff who are highly experienced in the power generation industry. Engineering Internships are within, but not limited to, Central Engineering, Station Engineering, Design & Project Engineering, Advanced Inspection & Maintenance, New Nuclear Engineering, Renewable Generation Engineering. The compensation rate for these positions starts at $34.01 per hour and will be commensurate with education & experience. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Work with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support the generation of the various systems Contribute to the overall objective of achieving an integrated environment dedicated to the safe and reliable operation of OPG’s plants. Assist with developing and executing projects in compliance with the nuclear industry’s demanding set of regulations and standards using established project management processes. Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems. EDUCATION Pursuing an Engineering or Applied Science undergraduate degree on a full-time basis By the start of the opportunity in May 2024, will have completed 3rd year of a 4-year program or 4th year of a 5-year program. Have a minimum average of 70% cGPA (B-) Be returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term. Meet the minimum Internship or Co-op Program eligibility requirements as defined by your academic institution. UALIFICATIONS Structural engineering courses and experience (Civil position) Sound fundamental knowledge of engineering principles Superior analytical and problem-solving skills Aptitude in numerical analysis Willingness to learn, take initiative and trouble-shoot Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills Project management experience Organizational and leadership skills Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
