Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated Data Analyst Intern to join our Engineering department in Etobicoke, Ontario. In this role, the successful candidate will closely collaborate with the Battery Management System (BMS) engineers to explore and address complex problems. The key responsibilities will include analyzing data, identifying patterns, and developing models to predict battery performance, while also discovering opportunities for improvement. The position will entail working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop and implement solutions, and effectively communicate insights via reports and visualizations. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain practical experience and work on challenging problems in BMS.

Position Scope and Responsibilities 

- Collect and analyze data sets related to battery performance, usage patterns, and other relevant parameters 
- Develop data pipelines, preprocess and clean data to make it usable for analysis 
- Work with engineers to develop models that can predict battery performance and identify patterns in data 
- Monitor battery performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements 
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and test battery management systems 
- Document data analysis processes, algorithms, and models 
- Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required by the team 
Job Requirements: Qualifications

Required:
-Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
-Proficiency in Python for data analysis, data manipulation, and data visualization
-Familiarity with statistical and machine learning techniques
-Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details
-Good communication and collaboration skills
-Personal accountability and commitment to achieving and exceeding goals and objectives
-Superior time management and organizational skills
-Ability to work independently as well as with cross functional teams
-High energy self-starter and multi-tasker who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
-Excellent communication skills

Preferred:
-Familiarity with battery technology and energy systems
-Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI
-Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
-Familiarity with time-series databases such as InfluxDB
-Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure

Additional Application Information: Transportation and Housing: Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing. e-Zinc is currently located at 24 Buckingham Street in Etobicoke, close to public transportation. In 2023 we will be moving to a new location in Mississauga near the airport. Travel to field deployments may also be required and transportation is provided.
