Job Description: AMD designs and develops cutting-edge compute and graphics processing technologies that are used throughout the world in business, enterprise, and consumer markets. AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) SOC team at AMD’s Markham location is driving frontend top level verification and integration work for AMD’s next generation Instinct compute products.  As a verification team we support the full frontend development of the ASIC designs in our aggressive roadmap.  We collaborate with our SOC and IP team colleagues in the US, India and China, along with third party vendors for tools.  To some level we also collaborate with our physical design colleagues who are doing the physical implementation.  We are looking to complement our verification infrastructure team with new hires who are eager to work hard and to contribute towards our project execution.

Within the RTG SOC verification team is the Design Verification Infrastructure team that is responsible for the tools and verification flows used to support our verification testbench environment. This is built up from basics like how we setup workspaces, how IPs are integrated and interacted in a System-On-Chip environment, and how tests are written and regressed.  But beyond these basics the team is driving automation workflows through python/ruby, implementing data visualization through modern web frameworks like React, and managing execution through CI flows like Jenkins.  We are exploring execution on cloud compute.  We are developing new debug automation tools in collaboration with Synopsys to build automated SOC verification and reporting flows.  We are working towards integration of ML technologies where it makes sense.   We also monitor and optimize for disk/compute usage efficiency, simulation performance and memory utilization.  We support the various regression and reporting flows to support the team.

We are seeking to hire a bright and hardworking candidate to join our team.  Candidates who are interested, please submit a resume and cover letter along with your transcripts (can be unofficial).  Due to export control requirements with the programs we develop, applicants ideally have permanent residency or citizenship in Canada.  Our team supports a hybrid work model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Will implement new innovative solutions that improve data collection/visualization and automation of our team's day to day flows that support project execution
  • Will improve our regression AI technologies that accelerate our test debug
  • Will be targeting specific 3rd party debug automation technologies and machine learning technologies for integration
  • Will help support test sanity/regression flows (perl/mysql/PHP) to support our project development
  • Will help debug and enhance simulation testcases and verilog/system verilog models
  • Will help to review new tools and options to improve simulation performance (new flows, tracking, analyzing reports, recoding, benchmarking, …) with the 3rd party vendor
Job Requirements: SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • The candidate should have completed 2nd or 3rd year Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Science programs.
  • Machine Learning experience with Pytorch or other ML libraries is an asset
  • Knowledge of web development frameworks like React is an asset
  • Good scripting knowledge in ruby/python/perl
  • Some familiarity to function in unix environment and in creating shell scripts
  • Good C/C++ software skills and Verilog
  • Good understanding for digital system and computer organization
  • Experience with revision control (git, svn, perforce) and with database (mySQL) are an asset.
  • Must communicate well both written and orally
  • Must be organized and multitask well
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
You will gain valuable experience in different aspects of ASIC design verification.  Depending on the time you join the team, you may be able to experience the full project cycle – from project planning to implementation to tapeout.
This team is essential to the success of AMD as a growing company. It is a very exciting environment and you will be working with the very best in our technology.  You will be working on some of the most exciting projects the industry has to offer.
